Girl Model 1 by covert15 Girl Model 1 by covert15
I drew this to be my own personal model so that I can practice on drawing clothes and fashion. I will be making more of these. And hopefully I will do a guy model too. But for right now I need some help from you with getting my proportions right. There are a couple things I know are off about this pic and I was wondering if you would take just a few minutes of your time to help me figure this out. I want to ink it soon but I'm not going to do that until I get some good feed back. So I can fix my mistakes. Thanks so much for reading!

I'm thinking that this looks pretty good, about the proportions thing I would say that the legs might be a bit too tall, I would lower the waist and shorten the lower legs. Everything else looks good about the body. ^^ The head might just be a bit too pushed together? I can't really say. I used to have tons of problems with proportions an such before, now I use a 3D Poser program to get the angles and proportions right, I really recommend it (+ it's free ^^). It's called DAZ Studio. Having a model to reference really helps a lot. Keep up the good work! :)

okay!! here is my critique resubmission, it took a time but now i am ready ^^

ok before i dissapoint you or something like that, or other people are going to hate flame me:
i think it's hard to judge this deviation by stars, since i think that you shouldn't do that with an exercise ehehe =v= so please please please don't think about the stars, they are just there for nothing, but i had to use it >.<

but, getting to the drawing, i made some quick redlines which might help you!

at first i adjusted a bit of the anatomy, as you can see here:

[link]

- i made the torso a bit longer
- i gave her a more defined taille by making the hips and shoulders a tad broader, but keeping the same width of her taille.
- i defined the arms and legs more, by adding some minor hints of muscles, which everybody has. nobody has completely straight arms and legs, but some curves which are made by muscles. i gave you some closeups of the major muscles in arms and legs.
- i adjusted the jawline, which was a bit too high in the drawing. the jawline is about at 1/4th of the face when counting from the chin. this makes the jawline about at the same height as the tip of the nose.
- i made her arms a bit shorter. the wrist is positioned at the same line as the hip when holding your arm straight.

after that i searched for the gravity line in your drawing, and i found out that the person in the drawing was a bit out of balance (meaning that in reality you could fall when you had this pose)

here you can see that she tends backwards.

so i changed the pose for a bit:

[link]

- i put her legs some more away from eachother,

- i gave her a contra posto pose, which means that the hips are tilted in the opposite direction from the shoulders. this gives more dynamics and is more stable.

after that i finally added all the things i gave tips for, and made a more defined drawing:

as some last tips:

- use reference photos! look at the EXACT shape of everything. don't think what you draw, but SEE what you draw. do you see that the leg muscle has some curve inwards? then draw that curve! for nice ref photos you might use *SenshiStock

- constantly measure with your eye. how many heads would fit into it? how much is the knee positioned to the left, regarding the elbow? you shouldn't measure it with a ruler, but simply by what you see. that way you'll practice your perceiving skills too.

hmm i hope this helped, if any questions just ask!

Constructive criticism: -legs need to be shorter, 'bum' area and chest should have a larger separation. but cool model :)

This is really good!(mind blown~;P) I'm thinking that the shoulder's are a teensy bit weird and the legs ARE a bit long but nothing overall actually looks wrong.:icongreatjobplz:(but then again I don't know anatomy that well..)

The right one is a bit higher than it's supposed to be, i think. About the legs.. if you don't change them then it could just be thingyed as your art style.. I saw this mangaka who drew ENDLESSLY long legsXD
glad i was able to help!

Oh well... the right shoulder is supposed to be higher because her pose. It's supposed to add depth, but maybe it just looks funny. Like I said. I'll mess with it. hahaha Okay. I'll think about. Maybe I'll just shorten them a tad but still have them super long. I guess I draw long legs because I have really long legs and I model for myself. hehehe
